BRITAIN’S BEST KEPT SECRET: ILL MANORS OUT TONIGHT
ILL MANORS - IN CINEMAS TONIGHT
Last week I had the absolute pleasure of attending the world premiere of ILL MANORS the directorial debut of Ben Drew also known as infamous rapper Plan B.

WHAT’S IT ABOUT?
Basically it’s about 6 characters trying to survive on the mean streets of East London. Prostitution, Drugs and Crime create an underworld of London, one that may seem untrue, but that’s because most people don’t even see it - but it’s very real, and this is the place Ben has portrayed in his new movie.
The story is a bit more complicated than that - but I don’t want to give too much away. There’s more to it than just your typical gangsta film. It has a real message. That actions have reactions, and that everybody has reasons for why they do what they do.
The film is an 18 for some obvious reasons - apparently it got an 18 purely for it’s language but I’m not too sure. There’s a few horrific moments where I found myself biting my hand but everything has a purpose, and nothing is done to exaggerate the lives that these people are living. They’re all real stories. They all happened.
BEST KEPT SECRET
So, the film was only made with £100k. That’s not too big for a film, but honestly? The production was outstanding. It had a very professional finish and it’s hard to believe it was made on 5 times less than they used to make Harry Brown. So, because it had such a small budget they clearly either didn’t have the money to hire a marketing person or the marketing person was crap - because I didn’t see one advert on TV and the only advert I did see was on social media (Facebook) and everybody knows people ignore the adverts on Facebook. But it definitely is a MUST SEE MOVIE. If you don’t go, you’re gonna miss out on the best British film in ages!
